Your doctor reviews the details you provided, discusses your symptoms and history, and agrees a plan with you. Consultations typically last 10–15 minutes.
Get what you need, digitally
Treatment decisions, certificates and referral letters arrive in your patient portal, usually within minutes of the call ending. Where treatment is approved, the doctor explains how to collect it.
When an online appointment is not the right choice
Remote consultations are safe and effective for most everyday problems, but they are not suitable for emergencies. If you have chest pain, difficulty breathing, heavy bleeding, symptoms of a stroke, or you believe your life may be at risk, call 112 or 999, or go to your nearest emergency department.
Some conditions need a physical examination or tests before any treatment can be approved. If that applies to you, the doctor will say so during the consultation and help you take the next step, including a referral where appropriate.

Are your doctors registered in Ireland?
Yes. Every doctor consulting through HealthDoc is registered with the Irish Medical Council. We verify registration before a doctor can take appointments.
What can an online GP treat?
Most everyday conditions. After assessing you, the doctor decides whether treatment is appropriate, explains the next steps and issues what you need digitally. Some conditions cannot be managed remotely, and the doctor will tell you if an in-person review is needed instead.
Can I get a sick note or medical certificate?
Yes. A doctor can issue a medical certificate or fit-to-work note after a consultation, provided the assessment supports it. Certificates are issued digitally and appear in your portal.
How quickly can I be seen?
Same-day appointments are usually available, including evenings and weekends. You choose from the times shown when you book.
Is my consultation private?
Yes. Consultations are encrypted, and your medical records are stored securely and processed under GDPR. Your employer never sees clinical information, even where a company pays for your appointment.
What if I need to see someone in person?
If the doctor judges that you need a physical examination, tests, or urgent assessment, they will tell you and can issue a referral letter to a consultant or direct you to the appropriate service.
